As jury deliberations continue in Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial, the polarizing case has sparked a response outside the Kenosha County Courthouse from groups both supporting and protesting Rittenhouse , the Illinois teenager who is on trial for the shooting of three people during unrest in the summer of 2020.

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth was seen handing out cookies and coffee “for peace” outside the courthouse on Thursday.

â€œThe point is to show everyone that we are on the same page,â€ he said. “People are going to voice their opinion but we are here to do it together, we are here to do it, hopefully, peacefully.”

Two people were taken into custody on the steps of the courthouse on Wednesday as the jury neared a verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse murder trial, authorities said.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man for assault and battery, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said. A 34-year-old woman was also arrested for misconduct.

Authorities said law enforcement had deployed several officers to “prevent crowds of citizens and media from intervening” during the arrests.

â€œThe Kenosha Police Department and the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department fully recognize the importance of the media coverage surrounding the trial. The media and the public have a responsibility to give space to law enforcement agencies and to enable them to carry out their functions. Please do it, â€Kenosha said police in a statement.

The police department tweeted on Wednesday afternoon that officials were aware of attempts to misinformation on social media surrounding the trial and that there was “no credible threat to public safety” at this time.

Once the jury announces that a verdict has been rendered, it will likely take some time before the verdict is read by the court. It is not yet clear how long the jury’s deliberations could take.

Because the race only takes place a few weeks before Olympic Games, it could be very different from the races of the previous season. Runners who use it as preparation for the Olympics will focus on performing well but try to avoid burnout or injury before Tokyo. Some runners who are usually podium favorites, such as multiple time world champion and two time race winner Annemiek van Vleuten (Movistar) â€”will not be present during the preparations for the Games. And Van der Breggen has had an excellent stage racing season so far, winning the Vuelta a Burgos Feminas in May and the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in February.

However, Spratt and Longo Borghini are no strangers to the podium either: Spratt has finished third overall twice, and Longo Borghini has finished second in 2017 and third in 2020.

This race is filled with American riders as well as: Tayler Wiles and Ruth winder from Trek-Segafredo; Alexis Ryan on Canyon-SRAM; Leah Thomas on Movistar; Coryn Rivera on the DSM team; Kristen Faulkner, Lauren Stephens, Emily Newsom and Clara Honsinger in the TIBCO-SVB team; and Heidi Franz, Holly Breck, Katie Clouse and Krista Doebel-Hickock from Rally Cycling. Some of these athletes, including Kristen Faulkner and Tayler Wiles, openly discussed and contested USA Cycling’s Olympic selection process and will likely be racing with a fire revived as a result.

Unfortunately, part of the reason this stage race was downgraded from its old ranking is because the organizers failed to provide the required TV coverage last year. The Tampa Bay Lightning will likely end that streak if the Montreal Canadiens don’t get a better performance from their offensively talented line of Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and Tyler Toffoli.

While the Canadiens have a knack for rebounding in the playoffs, Game 1 of the series was a revelation against the Tampa Bay top three of Ondrej Palat, Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov. Because the Lightning get the last line-up again in Game 2 on Wednesday night, coach Jon Cooper can get Point’s line on the ice against Suzuki as much as he wants, and it doesn’t seem like a showdown. favorable for Montreal.
