The Raiders scored their third try of the night, with point guard Jack Wighton to make it 20-12.

The Warriors got through for their first of the afternoon, courtesy of a “horrendous” pass from fullback Jordan Rapana in the 24th minute.

The Stuart full-back kicked the ball across the back line, Nick Cotric dropped it and left the New Zealand side field position for Adam Pompey to score.

25TH MINUTE

Jordan Rapana gave the Warriors their first points of the night after trying to spread the ball on a kick.

Nick Cotric dropped the bouncing ball, allowing the New Zealand side to take a tackle before a simple move found Adam Pompey in the corner.

“It was an awful pass and then the fast ball play,” Steve Roach said.

“They needed a little luck, didn’t the Warriors.”

Minutes later, the Raiders fought back, with Adam Elliott throwing a simple move after an offload.

Wighton put his man in a hole again, allowing Hudson Young to score.

9TH MINUTE:

Young shooting center Matt Timoko crossed to kick the score at Redcliffe.

Following a clean ball move, point guard Brad Schneider found star Jack Wighton in space, putting Timoko through a hole to cross almost intact.

“Look at the way Wighton holds the ball here when he gets it, they got caught in the field,” Steve Roach said on Fox League coverage.

“It’s a great pass from Wighton.”

PRE-MATCH WRAPPING

The Warriors will be desperate to make up for last week’s horror show when they host the Raiders on Saturday.

The Warriors were humbled 70-10 by the storm and to make matters worse, they suffered several injuries.

Five-eighth Chanel Harris-Tavita is out with a ruptured testicle, while Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is out after suffering a sickening blow to the head last week.

Additionally, Aaron Pene is suspended and forward Josh Curran has a knee injury.

All eyes will be on Daejarn Asi – who left the Cowboys mid-season – as he joins Shaun Johnson in halftime.

The Raiders were also forced into a key change with the return of Elliott Whitehead after a facial injury put him on the ice for another week.

Adam Elliott switches to the running side with last week’s debutant Harry Rushton, who has another opportunity on the bench.

Canberra will also be looking to respond after suffering a 36-6 loss to the Panthers last week.
