Newsy, a channel focused on “concise and unbiased video news and analysis” will no longer be available on live television broadcasting services, including YouTube TV.

The news is not a surprise. In April, Newsy shared his plans to move from an MVPD channel to an over-the-air channel.

“MVPDs have exclusivity arrangements in their cable contracts, so we can’t distribute Newsy both over cable and over the air,†a Scripps spokesperson said at the time. “We told our cable companies that we would end the distribution of Newsy with them as of June 30.

YouTube TV subscribers were notified of the change taking effect via an email stating:

We are writing to let you know that as of June 30, 2021, the Newsy channel will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Newsy recently changed its distribution model and will no longer be available to streaming providers like YouTube TV. As such, starting June 30, you will lose access to all previous recordings on this channel.

The Newsy app is still available on Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Android, and iOS. The channel is also available on free streaming services including Haystack News, Plex, Pluto TV, Redbox, The Roku Channel, STIRR, and XUMO.
