The new Foxtel iQ5 streaming device received a 2021 Good design award winner in the Product Design category, in recognition of exceptional design and innovation.

As the highest honor for industrial design in the country, the Good Design Awards are internationally recognized awards for design and innovation. Foxtel’s iQ5 device is among the winning technologies that demonstrate excellence in professional and focused design.

The Good Design Awards jury said: “The small footprint, clean and minimalist design and modularity of the components make it a well designed and executed product. The plug and play hard drive upgrade is the feature that stands out here. It’s an interesting approach to simplify technology for the mass market. Well done.”

Accelerating a streaming-driven future for Foxtel, iQ5 set-top boxes open up a whole new way to watch entertainment, all in one place, streamed live and on demand. The new device, launched in September, features a plug and play configuration allowing customers to stream up to 50,000 hours of Foxtel content in minutes, with no cable or satellite installation required.

The smart device is enhanced with Foxtel’s rich multimedia user interface and enables navigation with the Foxtel voice remote control. By introducing modularity and even more choice, customers can choose the best configuration for their home – iQ5 device alone or stacked with a 1TB hard drive allowing recording capabilities.

Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia said: “Receiving an Australian Good Design Award is a testament to the integration of design excellence at the heart of a product, service, place or experience… L he importance of adopting good design principles is now more important than ever for many companies all over the world have had to completely rethink their business strategies to stay competitive. The level of design excellence represented in this year’s awards is the best I have ever seen in my 25 years of managing these awards â€.

The new Foxtel iQ5 device is currently available to select Foxtel subscribers and will be more widely available later this year.
